Focusing on open source tools and civic engagement, this event sparks cross-disciplinary collaboration to transform ideas into impactful, real-world solutions.
Co-design with the community
A Civic Tech Fellowship
We’re enlisting a group of student trailblazers who are interested in working in the intersection of tech and civic engagement. At Civic Tech Camp, you’ll be working to solve existing social issues by co-designing solutions that benefit your community. Civic Tech Fellows apply to become part of a 10-week civic solution project cohort.
During the program, you’ll collaborate closely with industry experts and innovation coaches to bring real-world solutions to life. Each project submission is carefully selected for its potential market impact—who is affected by this challenge?—and its relevance to today’s most pressing needs—why now?
This opportunity is open to university students and early-career professionals in the tech space, including software engineering, data science, product design, and research.
Be a Camp Counselor and join organizing team
We recruit the organizing team at least 3 months before the event. The team behind Civic Tech Camp is composed of industry mentors, org leaders, and tech leaders who represent a diverse expertise (ie. strategy, research, tech, policymaking, business development). Their main role is to lead the summit experience through planning, designing and driving the many moving parts of this event.
As camp counselor, your role is to:
REVIEW PROJECT PROPOSALS as a Project Manager: You will review submissions, vet final proposals and translate requirements into a work plan that will be posted on the Open Civic Tech docs site.
HOST PROJECTS as the Cohort Captain: Take on a leadership role in supporting the logistics of the event. Whether that’s helping plan huddle meetings, creating the brief before and after the program. Ensure that each project team will meet with stakeholders, and ensure that projects are on-task and on-time.
PROVIDE TRAINING as On-The-Day Mentors: Commit to a few hours virtually or in person to assist in technical or strategic aspect of a project. As a mentor, all you need is to lean into what you know, and tap into background and experience.
